Vote Oboler for General Secretary

Why should I bother?

As someone who spends a lot of my time representing students, I bother doing so becuase it makes things better for students. For those who don't have that drive to sit through long (and often boring) meetings, you can do your bit for your fellow students simply by turning up to vote and using your vote to elect the best possible candidates.

Summary

• If you will be here next year, voting will make things better for you

• If you are about to finish your degree... who knows, maybe you'll do another!

• If you really are going, past students put in the time an effort to vote in good representitives for you, the least you can do is return the favour for next years students.

• If Lancaster does well, your degree is worth more to employers. If it starts to fail... your degree becomes worthless.

Past work has helped you, so help others - vote!

Before many students were at Lancaster (2003-2004) I spent 8 months pushing the university to fix up the accomodation (including briefing the university court) - for those living in new residence, you got the benefit of this. You can read the transcript of the BBC Radio 4 show on the problem, and have a look at the compensation background document I prepared for the union

Two years ago while postgrad rep I ran a Postgraduate Participation campaign - this is when I was not running, so have a look what I said then.

I've also spoken about about the university losing site of students, you can read the speech to University Court

This will all be of far greater benefit to the generations of students to come (including you guys!) than it was to students at the time. Do your bit for tomorrows students. You don't have to run for election, just take a few minutes to vote.
